South West Pines 12
Oil on Linen
This little gem of a painting, not much bigger than A4 size was purchased from Flinders Lane Gallery. We missed out on a larger example of Kathryn Ryan’s work some weeks earlier so when we saw this painting we couldn’t resist.
Ryans inspiration comes from the rural landscapes of South West Victoria where the silhouette of these majestic trees are seen along the horizon. Her sensitivity and intuition for colour, light and tone place her within the great Australian landscape tradition.
This example of her work conveys such peace, while showing natures cycles and contrasts, growth, decay, renewal and the mystery offered by the changing light.
