Pat Brassington

80 x 72 cm - Pigment print edition 6 of 8

Pat Brassington has been described as one of Australia’s most important contemporary artists working as a master of surrealism in the field of photomedia.  Her recent show at Arc One showed abstracted images of the human body in a compelling and sometimes uncompromising way.  This series holds the classic provocative nature of ambiguity experienced in Brassington’s work and practice.

The images are rich in double meanings, her digital collages of female and flower where some erogenous part for example, is substituted with petals.

Her work is held in many public collections including the Art Gallery of NEW, Queensland Art Gallery, National Gallery of Australia and Heide Museum of Modern Art, to name a few.

The buying committee were enthralled by the show, and couldn’t come home empty handed.
