Paul Davies

Blue Forest Vertical

Acrylic on Linen

This large painting (187 x 153) is a stunning example of Paul Davies’ work.  We purchased this on a buying trip to Sydney from Tim Olsen Gallery, having managed to preview what is expected to be a sellout show.

The artists original inspiration came from a holiday magazine featuring houses in Aspen, Colorado.  His block coloured, eerily empty paintings demonstrate the artists obsession with line and form.   The mixture of the architectural form and the bleakness of the trees combine to make a beautiful image.  He uses a mixture of stencils and freehand paintings  which result in overall flat paintings with unexpected depth.
